Key areas of expertise and achievements include the following:

  • Strategic planning, policy formulation and evaluation, contract negotiations as well as the management of several multi-disciplinary power projects.
  • Proposal preparation, evaluation of competing bids and the economic evaluation of international power projects. Familiar with the workings and operations of the major multilateral institutions such as the World Bank, International Finance Corporation (IFC), the European Investment Bank (EIB) and has served as liaison or provided technical support for a number of Appraisal/Supervisory Missions of these institutions.
  • Significant involvement in the least cost planning of the expansion and reinforcement of the generation and transmission components of the Ghana Power System since 1992.
  • Preparation of international power contracts and has been a Lead Member for the negotiation of several power supply contracts and other international agreements with neighbouring power utilities in Togo/Benin, Burkina Faso and La Cote d’Ivoire. Specialisation in business analysis and strategy, energy infrastructure development, international joint ventures, project finance, project management, contract and commercial negotiations, post project reviews and corporate strategy formulation.
  • Extensive knowledge in policy and regulatory matters in the renewable energy sector and has provided oversight responsibility in the planning and development of several renewable energy projects.
  • Development and operation of the oil and gas business including the design and evaluation of international oil transactions.
  • Extensive knowledge of the various contractual arrangements in the oil/gas sector including resource sharing arrangements, taxation and the evaluation of oil and gas infrastructure projects.
  • Served as Advisor to the Government of Ghana in the position of Director, Power of the Ministry of Energy from 2002 to 2009 and was responsible for the formulation of policies, their evaluation and monitoring for the efficient operation of the power sector in Ghana.
  • Provided technical support to the Minister for Energy regarding the operation of the power sector and supervised the operations of the State institutions in the sector, namely the Volta River Authority (VRA) and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and coordinated the Government programmes in the power sector in relation to the provision of support from multilateral and bilateral institutions such as the World Bank, International Finance Corporation, African Development Bank and others.
  • Project Manager for the Government of Ghana’s National Electrification Programme, an ambitious programme for extending electricity to all parts of the country by the year 2020, a major plank of the Government of Ghana’s economic development programme.
